This Is America – Volume 3 marks the third edition of our annual print magazine. This publication is both the core of oltreoceano’s cultural work and the main source of support for an independent, non-profit project. Each year, This Is America brings together and amplifies the monographic research developed by our editorial team and collaborators, enriched with exclusive content, unpublished texts, and visual artworks. The result is a cultural product unique in the European landscape, one that intertwines journalistic and historical research, artistic production, and grassroots participation.

Following the success of the first two editions, we will release the third edition of This Is America on November 7th, 2025. Each year, the launch of the magazine is not only an editorial milestone but also a collective moment of dissemination and exchange, accompanied by a tour of public presentations that strengthens our network and broadens our audience.

This Is America – Volume 3 is therefore more than a publication: it is an editorial and educational journey. Inside the magazine are six monographic journalistic essays, the result of a year-long process and the contribution of seventeen authors from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. Alongside these, the issue also presents the works of four visual artists from around the world, selected through our international open call.

Above all, This Is America – Volume 3 represents a collective endeavor—an attempt to rethink the margins of African American cultural production and to critically engage with its profound influence and, at the same time, its exploitation within the global entertainment industry.
