Sonia Lima Morais
Sonia Lima Morais is an Italian-born writer of Capeverdean descent. Her work explores Black embodiment, ancestral memory, and the intersections of language, migration, and resistance, drawing on Italian, Portuguese, and Kriol as spaces of both fragmentation and belonging. She is the author of the short stories Sguardo nero (I razzisti in Italia non esistono), published in the anthology Nella stessa acqua, and Até amanhã (A domani), included in Sorella d’inchiostro. Her upcoming story Cornrows / Cornroads will appear in the anthology Oceani allo specchio, to be released in March 2026. Black Body / White Mirror is her first published poem. She writes from a decolonial and afrofeminist perspective, centering Black lived experience and multilingual expression. sonialimamorais@pm.me
